Mik-4 is on 通化街 TongHua Street in the 大安區 DaAn District of Taipei.

It's a fairly unassuming place, tucked away on a busy road.

The inside of the restaurant is well laid-out and has a large number of tables with lots of traditional Indian pictures on the walls and around the tables.

You can see the many pots of the buffet. The lunch buffet is $449 for all you can eat, not too bad, I would say!

But, we decided to not go for the buffet, instead we went for a few dishes:

1. Dahi Puri

2. Tandoori chicken leg

3. Rajasthani Rogan Josh

4. Lamb Buhna

5. Plain Nan

6. Garlic Nan

7. Samosa

8. Rasmalai

9. Gulab Jamun

We were given poppadoms to start with, which were great. They were clearly freshly made with a good crunch, and the sauce was a delicious coriander and yogurt.

1. Dahi Puri

Dahi Puri are little deep fried 'pockets' filled with (usually) a cold filling with some cold soup inside, too. They are wonderfully fresh and quite sour. They work as a starter brilliantly as they open up your taste buds and get you ready for the next dishes.

2. Tandoori chicken leg

Two tandoori chicken legs were served up here for another 'starter', but should probably be a side dish instead. These chicken legs are huge! They have a massive amount of meat on them and the tandoori flavour is great. It has a lightly spiced coating, with a stickiness and sweetness that is a pleasure.

3. Rajasthani Rogan Josh

Lamb Rogan Josh is a personal favourite of mine. But, I usually like it a little spicy, too. My favourite taste in a curry is a rich tomato taste and this delivers in abundance. The sauce (gravy, in Indian) is very rich and goes beautifully with the nan bread.

The lamb is clearly cooked for a long time at a slow temperature, allowing the fat to become silky smooth and tender. The meat breaks apart upon the lightest of touches and erupts with flavour in your mouth.

4. Lamb Buhna

The long-grain rice was cooked quite soft with a lot of dry spices, onion, garlic and ginger. It was lightly spiced, but very good. It was delicate in flavour, but even though it was delicate it did pair very well with the yogurt that was served, too.

5. Plain Nan

Nan bread is a must-order whenever I go for a curry. It is, without a doubt, the best accompaniment I could think of to go with a dish with lots of sauce. I will often eat with my fingers and use the nan to surround a piece of meat in the curry and mop up the excess, too. The nan here was not very thick or bready, in any way, it was more thin and crispy. But, it did have a bend with it and tasted very nice.

6. Garlic Nan

We also ordered a garlic nan which just radiated garlic aromas throughout the restaurant. Going out in the evening? Don't get this for lunch. Don't care about your breath? Definitely consider getting this!

7. Samosa

Save the best for last? Well, the best of the main meal, anyway.

The samosa is filled with a curried potato mixture, and tastes delicious. I need to address the samosa here: It was awesome! I spoke to the owner and complimented him on how amazingly delicious the actual samosa is. There is no evidence at all of grease, in any way! It was truly special and unique.

8. Rasmalai

Rasmalai is a traditional Indian dessert made from unripened curd cheese soaked in a host of Indian spices including saffron and cardamon. The consistency is slightly soft and slightly rubbery. It is very unique, but it is also very delicious.

9. Gulab Jamun

Gulab Jamun is a milk-solids based dessert which takes the form of little balls soaked in syrup, spices and almonds. Its fragrant, sugary and rich. Be careful, more than 1-2 may be too much. Also, don't want any cavities? Maybe give it a miss, too.

Best dish: 1. Dahi Puri or 7. Samosa - They were both top dishes and really delicious. The coldness of the Dahi Puri dessert was ideal and the samosa had no grease in any way and was right on the money, too.

Dish I wouldn't order again: I'd order all of them again.

Overall, I was really nicely surprised by Mik-4. As I previously said with Dazzle, I have a really high standard when it comes to Indian food - as I grew up in England (and there is an abundance of Indian influence in England, therefore an abundance of Indian restaurants). Mik-4 was right on the money and everything tasted great. The starters were delicious, the main courses were also delicious and the desserts were also delicious.

The Mik brand also has 3 other restaurants, which I will be covering over the next few months - so keep an eye out!
