England - Betty's Tea Room - Harrogate

Value for money: 10/10
Cleanliness: 10/10
Service: 10/10
Quality of food: 10/10

Visiting the UK? There are other places out there, not just London, you know!

Harrogate should be top of your list as far as afternoon tea in a tranquil and quaint setting is concerned.

You have 3 places to choose from, the ground level floor ^

The B2 room ^

Or, where we chose, B2 - The Veranda Cafe

Look no further than the Afternoon Tea - £18.95 ($793TWD per person)

But, in fairness, the breakfasts are awesome, too!

We ordered 2 of the Afternoon Tea sets. The first thing to arrive is 2 teapots with tea in and 1 teapot with hot water in (to refill the others).

Their tea sets are beautiful, I was especially a fan of the tea strainer!

Here we go, 3 layers of bliss.

Let's start at the bottom - the sandwiches. We have:
Smoked salmon - great
Roast Yorkshire ham - good
Roast free-range chicken breast - great
Egg and cress - great

All top class.

Next, what I was looking forward to most, the scones!

My step-by-step guide to how to prepare and best eat your scones:

1. Cut your scone in half

2. Spread your cream (thick and uneven for the rustic look is best!)

3. Slap a generous dollop of (the best is strawberry) strawberry jam on top. Don't bother smoothing it out or making it look even and perfect all over.

How good does this look? I guarantee that it tastes even better than it looks!

The cake selection:
Lemon macaroon - great
Chocolate pavee - excellent
Fresh fruit tart - good

The chocolate pave was my pick of the bunch - chocolate goodness right here. So rich!

Below are pictures of the cafe station where you can pick want you want for the more relaxed cafe on the ground floor.

Below are pictures of the take-out shop:

Definitely get these, the pikelet - put your sandwich filling on top and dig in. They're a bit like a savoury pancake.

Have a slice of this the next day with your favourite cup of tea at home. For extra decadence, butter one side of the loaf!

Get a little pig cake, why not!?
